Educational Opportunities
Tours
We provide informational tours for individuals, schools. Complete with a demonstration of our operation, we share our philosophy of joy and satisfaction by separating food scraps from trash and composting.
Come see our drop-off sight and Earth Appliance Organics Company’s Community Compost Facility; a first of its kind! Rhode Island’s first registered Medium Scale Composting. The first Urban compost facility. The first Social Enterprise Compost facility. And the first to compost over One MILLION Pounds of organics right in Providence and return finished compost to local soils.
Although not as immersive as our Hands-on Workshop Programs, the Tours still offer an opportunity for you to learn to separate food scraps, turn some compost, and even view microbes under a microscope!
Come take a tour with your school, community garden, or organization looking to learn more.
Hands-on Workshops
Your mission, should you decide to take it, is to make a compost pile, feed some worms, and get one step closer to composting for yourself, your school, your community. An immersive, hands-on experience, you will learn about worm composting, hot composting, and bokashi fermentation!
- Perfect for an introduction to the composting process, and to see what options would be the best fit for your situation. There are as many ways to compost as there are dance videos on Tik-Tok. OK, maybe not quite as many, but there are a lot of options! Explore and find what you like, a system that works for you and your community.
- We round out our composting workshop with a journey into the Microcosmos, viewing microbes through a microscope and seeing the living organisms that make composting possible.
Composting Bootcamp
- Are you ready to step up your game? Are you looking to improve your composting skills? Composting is one thing. Composting successfully, all year round, is a whole different ballgame.
- Lean how to address challenges you confront, such as seasonal weather changes, stockpiling resources, and bottlenecks when you have a full compost bin and more food scraps to add.
- Composting is an engineered process, and just like baking bread or building a home, it requires detailed instructions and knowledge to ensure it is done right.
- With expert instruction, a developed action plan, and continued support, rest assured, you will feel more confident to take control of the process with this workshop.
- Perfect for Community Gardens and Home Gardeners looking to increase their compost production. This 6-week training course with one year continued support, takes you through the entire process of saving food scraps, managing materials input, through to creating the best finished compost possible. We will ensure you have the know-how to confront any challenge and succeed 100% of the time.
